Rooms and Invitations
A room is where a call happens. The fieldworker opens one. The expert joins it. When everyone leaves, nothing of it is kept.
Saved rooms
Typing a room name on a phone with gloves on is exactly the friction Assist is meant to remove. Save the rooms your team uses and you never retype them.
A saved room keeps its name between calls, so the same team meets in the same place every time. Room names can be up to 64 characters on Android and iOS.
Starting a call from the glasses
With saved rooms you can open a call without picking up the phone. The glasses show a home screen listing your rooms. Each one shows the words that dial it. Say them and the call opens.
Three screens carry you through a call:
| Screen | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Home | Your saved rooms, each with the voice command that opens it |
| Waiting | The room name, while you wait for the expert |
| End | The room, how long the call ran, and how many photos went out |
This matters most when both hands are busy. A technician with both arms in a cabinet can open a call, run it, and end it without touching anything.
See voice commands for the full list in English, Dutch, French, German, and Spanish.
Sharing the link
The fieldworker sends the invite, through whatever they already use. Assist hands the link to your phone's normal share options. It goes out over Teams, WhatsApp, SMS, email, Signal, or anything else on the handset.
That matters more than it sounds. There is no directory to search. No address book to keep up to date. Nobody has to be set up in advance.
If you can already reach the person, you can pull them into what you are looking at. A colleague on WhatsApp. A supplier's engineer on Teams. A manufacturer's support line by email. They open the link, and they are seeing through your glasses.
The invite also arrives on a channel they already watch. That is usually the difference between an expert joining in thirty seconds and joining after you phone them to explain the email.
How rooms lock
| Phase | Who can join | How |
|---|---|---|
| Before the call starts | The first expert | Room code at assist.iristick.app |
| After the fieldworker and first expert connect | Extra experts only | Invitation link |
The room locks as soon as the call runs. Knowing the room name is no longer enough. That is what stops someone walking into a live session. See room access control.
Invitation links
Once the call is running, the main expert makes the links for anyone else who needs to join, and keeps control of them afterwards:
- Copy and re-copy a link you lost, without making a new one
- Revoke a link you sent to the wrong person
- Links expire on their own if nobody uses them
Each link fills one expert slot. A session holds one fieldworker and up to three experts. The invite panel shows how many slots are left. If the room is full, remove someone first. Removing a person ends the session for them alone, not for everyone.
Inviting extra experts needs a license. See licensing.
Note
An invitation link is a working key to a live call while it is valid. Send it through a channel you trust. Revoke it if you are not sure where it ended up.
